Sir,
GOVERNMENT HOUSE.
HONGKONG. 7th. April, 1914.
Po 12401
With reference to my Despatch No. 72 of the
12th. of March, I have the honour to transmit a letter addressed to you by Mr. A. F. Churchill, in which he asks that he may be allowed to draw the revised salary of his post from the 1st. of October, 1911, owing to his having refused such salary owing to a misunderstanding.
2.
I have already recommended that Mr. Churchill should be allowed to draw the lower salary with duty pay from the 1st. of January last, but I am unable to recommend that his request to draw such salary from the 1st. of October, 1911, should be acceded to, even though he may have been under a misapprehension as to his position.
